Are You Ready for Windows 10? A Checklist for Early Adopters

Are you THAT person? The one who's standing in line at Best Buy in the freezing cold at 5:00 a.m. just so you can be the first to get your hands on the newest smartphone? ( or you send someone ) We hear you; new technology is exciting and fun to interact with, however, there are some factors you should take into consideration before jumping on the early adoption bandwagon.

Microsoft is currently designing and developing Windows 10. The new operating system (OS) will offer a series of features including:

  • Cortana, a digital assistant
  • Microsoft Edge, a new web browser (replacing Internet Explorer)
  • Updated Start Menu and Start Screen experience
  • Updated Action Center, a place you can see all your notifications
  • And much more. Click here for a preview

Windows 10 will be released on July 29. If you have been thinking about upgrading from Windows XP, now is the time to get your company prepared.

Find out if you're Windows 10 ready with this checklist:

  1. Are my employees fully trained on Windows 10 navigation and its updated feature set?
  2. Are my business applications approved and tested to run within Windows 10?
  3. Does my hardware meet the minimum or recommended requirements for Windows 10?

If you've answered yes to the above questions, you may be ready to upgrade. However, if you're unsure about early adoption, speak to your Managed Services Provider to determine if an upgrade makes sense for your business. Legacy OS versions such as Windows 7 and 8.1 will continue to be supported in the meantime. If you already have either system, be mindful of the Windows 10 upgrade notice that you may start to see.
