IT Support Needs To Be Business Support

There are many functions of a business that need to work together concurrently to keep the business operating smoothly. As a business grows the number of people and departments grows. Over time, problems emerge, redundancies, inefficiencies and information silos can be created.  Usually some of these issues are addressed with specific software solutions.  At IT support and taskstimes it is difficult to see where or how to implement and use technology pragmatically.

I.T. Business Support is knowing  how to leverage the right technologies in the right area of the business. Business Support provides the guidance that enables business to be efficient and effective in an inexpensive way.  It is different than technical IT support and is a much more strategic approach to IT issues.  Unfortunately it is something that many businesses do not understand and therefore they do not obtain optimum results from their IT investments.  

Tech support is knowing how implemented technologies work and how they are fixed when they break.  It involves many of the specific activities which are commonly thought of as IT related including workstation support, help desk activity, network administration, server support, software updates, and data backup.
